The Part 1 Universal Yoga Studies intensive will focus on different sub-styles with practices that challenge experienced students and are accessible to all levels of practitioners. Each morning you will experience challenging multi-dimensional sequences to support your capacity towards development. Afternoon sessions include theory and discussion, followed by 45 minutes of the Dance of Shiva – an ancient practice re-discovered by Andrey in Nepal and introduced into the modern world. The movements of the Dance of Shiva form the basis of all the south Asian martial arts and dance forms.
Through daily yoga asana classes, Dance of Shiva practice and lectures, we will explore a variety of yogic concepts and methods to create a new approach to this ancient practice. Students will be challenged to explore & expand upon their personal yoga practice and will be encouraged to develop creative, conscious & intelligent teaching techniques.

This course is the first 100 hours (Part 1) of the full 200-hour RYS Universal Yoga Teacher Training Programme. For those who cannot commit to 100 hours, the course will also be offered into two sub-programmes:
(1) Universal Asana Vinyasa (50 hours)
(2) Universal Pranayama (50 hours)
To obtain the full 100-hour certification for Part-1 Universal Yoga Teacher Training, both 50 hour sub-programmes must be taken. These sub-programmes will be offered throughout the calendar year at Pure Yoga, and can also be taken elsewhere with Andrey Lappa.
The teacher training programmes will focus on different sub-styles with practices that challenge experienced students, yet are accessible to all levels of practitioners. Alternative mornings will cover multi-dimensional sequences to support your capacity towards development. Evening sessions include theory and discussion, followed by 30 minutes of the Dance of Shiva – an ancient practice re-discovered by Andrey in Nepal and introduced into the modern world. The cornerstone of Master Patanjali's Yoga Sutra, entitled Samadhi Pada or Chapter on Meditation, is organised around the 5 paths or levels of a person's spiritual evolution - accumulation, preparation, seeing, habituation and no more learning - through which you ascend in deep states of meditation. The first chapter defines yoga as the process of stopping the mind from turning things around in the wrong way, and it offers many means to accomplish this goal. The course covers Master Patanjali's explanation of mental afflictions and their remedies, how to establish a strong practice, qualities of a good teacher, the Four Infinite Thoughts, and achieving the direct perception of ultimate reality.
